DeskCamera 5.11.0 runs simultaneously for multiple logged-in Windows users. Now each user session has its own DeskCamera instance with its isolated settings – its own configured media sources and its own ONVIF/RTSP ports – so it appears as a dedicated ONVIF IP camera for every user in your VMS/NVR system.
The new DeskCamera also introduces configurable latency and audio support for external RTSP streams, improved ONVIF and RTSP port management, a simplified user interface, and other performance and functionality improvements.
Why it matters
In shared PCs, terminal servers, and Fast User Switching scenarios, different Windows user sessions often need DeskCamera at the same time. DeskCamera 5.11.0 removes session conflicts by allowing each logged-in Windows user to stream independently, while keeping configuration and camera settings separated per user session – without mixing profiles or sources.
What is new in 5.11.0
- Multi Windows user support: Multiple simultaneously logged-in Windows users can run DeskCamera at the same time, each with their own app and camera settings
- Audio for external RTSP streams: The application can now detect audio in external RTSP streams and re-stream the stream with or without audio
- Configurable latency for external RTSP streams: Users can now adjust the latency of external RTSP streams to optimize performance based on their network conditions and requirements
- ONVIF/RTSP port management: Improved ONVIF and RTSP port handling, including support for configuring a user-defined ONVIF port
- UI improvements
Fixes
- Fixed an application crash on some systems during Media Foundation (MF) hardware encoder initialization
- Fixed an issue where the Compatibility → Limit ONVIF Token Length setting was not applied to newly created profiles in some cases
Who benefits
- Organizations using shared Windows workstations or Fast User Switching
- RDP / terminal server environments where multiple user sessions stream from the same host
- IT teams managing multi-user PCs that stream desktops, windows, webcams, and audio to VMS/NVR systems
How it works
- DeskCamera starts for each logged-in Windows user as a separate instance
- DeskCamera maintains isolated settings and media sources per Windows user
- For each Widows user DeskCamera setups own Virtual ONVIF IP camera running on it’s own port, so VMS/NVR systems can add or discover each user session as a separate ONVIF device
Availability and upgrade
DeskCamera 5.11.0 is available now. All customers can upgrade immediately at no additional cost.
DeskCamera ONVIF IP Camera
DeskCamera lets you add a Windows PC media to your VMS/NVR like a real ONVIF camera. Share a live desktop, a specific application window, or a webcam over ONVIF or RTSP – optionally with audio – using the same workflows you already use for IP cameras. Under the hood, it delivers efficient GPU-accelerated H.264/H.265 streaming, can run quietly in the background, and supports offline activation and local license server deployments for controlled environments.
FAQ
Can multiple logged-in Windows users run DeskCamera at the same time?
Yes. DeskCamera 5.11.0 supports running concurrently in multiple Windows user sessions, each with separate settings and media sources.
How does this appear in a VMS/NVR?
Each Windows user session runs as a separate ONVIF IP camera instance on its own port, so you can add/discover each session independently in your VMS/NVR.
Is this update free?
